Overview

Accounting Seed integrates with Stripe for payment processing, supporting multi-currency credit card transactions. ACH transaction processing is limited to USD.  We do not currently support Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), a regulatory requirement in some European countries. Prerequisite

You must have an active Stripe account. If you do not have one, first create one at stripe.com.

Step 1: Verify Remote Site Settings

Before connecting Stripe, confirm that the Accounting Seed remote site setting is active in your Salesforce org.

1. Navigate to Setup > Remote Site Settings.
2. Locate the Remote Site Name LED with the Remote Site URL api.accountingseed.com in the list.
3. Confirm its Active checkbox is checked; if it is not active, click Edit, check the Active checkbox and Save.

Step 2: Add Stripe Payment Processor and Connect to Stripe

1. Navigate to Accounting Home > Setup > Utilities > Payment Processors.
2. Click New. The New Payment Processor dialog box displays.
3. Under the Information section, complete the following:
   1. Enter a descriptive Name, for example: "Stripe".
   2. Select Stripe from the Type drop-down list.
   3. Leave the Connected Account Token textbox blank. This field is automatically populated when you connect the Payment Processor to your Stripe account.
4. Under the Configuration Options section, leave the Global Default Payment Processor checkbox blank for now.
5. Optional: Under the System Information section, prior to going live, if you want to test this Payment Processor when you connect to Stripe, select the Test Mode checkbox. Otherwise, leave this checkbox blank.
   1. Important: If you check Test Mode and test with Stripe's test payment methods, this will create actual source records in Accounting Seed that must be deleted prior to going live. Also, before going live you must uncheck the Test Mode checkbox.
6. Click Save. The new Payment Processor displays.
7. On the newly created Payment Processor record page, click the Connect Payment Provider button. The Connect Payment Provider Confirmation dialog box displays (see screen capture below).
8. Click Connect.
9. Log in to Stripe to establish a connection between this new Payment Processor and your Stripe account.

Step 3: Set the Global Default Payment Processor

The Global Default Payment Processor acts as a fallback for open Billings that do not have a Payment Processor assigned. When a payment is initiated via Payment Link or Receive Payment and no default payment method exists on the customer's Account, Accounting Seed uses the processor set in the Global Default Payment Processor field. Important: Your Stripe Payment Processor record must already exist.

To set your Global Default Payment Processor:

1. Navigate to Accounting Home > Setup > Utilities > Payment Settings.
2. Click the Pencil icon to edit.
3. Under AR Payments, find the Global Default Payment Processor field and begin typing the name of your Stripe Payment Processor record. Click Save.

Step 4: Configure Payment Link

Payment Link allows you to email your customers with a payment URL associated with a Billing which they can click to pay you. Accounting Seed automatically creates a Cash Receipt and applies it to the originating Billing.

To configure your payment link functionality:

1. Log in to your Stripe account using a separate browser tab.
2. In Accounting Seed, navigate to Accounting Home > Setup > Utilities > Payment Settings.
3. Under AR Payments, find the Payment Link Configuration section and click the Configure Payment Link button.
4. An Allow Access? dialog is displayed; click Allow to connect.

   

5. The Payment Settings screen refreshes and displays the configured Payment Link Username. Accounting Seed is now linked to your Stripe account for payment processing.

   

Step 5: Set up your Email Template for Payment Link

Accounting Seed provides a standard email template that auto-populates the Payment Link on emails sent to customers for Billing payment. You can use the standard template as-is or clone and customize it.

1. From Setup, search for Email Templates and click Classic Email Templates.
2. In the Accounting Seed Email Templates folder, click Billing Payment Link Email Template.
3. Review the template. If you want to customize it, click Clone, make your changes, then click Save. Use the cloned template in the remaining steps.
4. Copy your Template Unique Name (for example: Billing_Payment_Link_Email_Template, or your cloned template's unique name).
5. Navigate to Accounting Home > Setup > Configurations > PDF Formats.
6. Select a list view other than Recently Viewed.
7. Select the Billing PDF format you use (such as Default Billing Product), then click Edit.
8. In the Default Email Template field, paste the Template Unique Name you copied in step 4.
9. Click Save.

Step 6: Verify the Status Field Values on the Payment Activity Object

After connecting to Stripe, verify that all required Status field values are available on the Payment Activity object.

1. From Setup > Object Manager, search for and click the Payment Activity object.
2. Click Fields & Relationships.
3. Scroll down and click the Status field.
4. In the Values section, verify that all these required values are displayed:
   1. Success
   2. Declined
   3. Error
   4. Authorized
   5. Pending
   6. Void
