Overview

Review the configuration changes for the Winter '27 Preview release below. Some changes are required before or after installing the release package. Others are optional and only apply if you plan to use a specific new feature. These steps require System Administrator access, or equivalent page layout and Lightning App Builder permissions.

Configuration Changes

In this article:

• Enhanced PDF Formats Setup
• Bank Reconciliation: Quick Action Button Update
• Bank Direct Connect: Enable Field History Tracking on Bank Transactions
• AP Automation: Enable Activities on Payment Method
• Orders & Inventory: Exclude Non-Inventory Products from Pack
• Added in this Release: Classes, Objects, VF Pages, and Fields

Enhanced PDF Formats Setup

Optional. Required only if you want to use Enhanced PDF Formats (EPF) on existing PDF Format records. New Accounting Seed orgs receive Enhanced PDF Formats by default. Existing customers who don't complete these steps see no change to their current Visualforce PDF setup. For an overview of what Enhanced PDF Formats are and how they work, see Enhanced PDF Formats.

• Confirm prerequisites: Accounting Seed Hub is authorized in your org, and the PDF file type is set to Execute in Browser under Setup > File Upload and Download Security. If you use Automated Email Billing, each Enhanced PDF Format the job uses also needs a verified Organization-Wide Email Address. Without one, scheduled sends fail with an automated job error.
• Update permissions: users who create formats and templates need edit access to the new Merge Tag object and to the PDF Format object's new Merge Type, Target Object, and Default File Id fields. Users who generate PDFs need read access to the same. See Enhanced PDF Formats Configuration, Step 1: Update Permissions.
• Update page layouts and the Lightning record page: add the new fields to the PDF Format page layout, activate the new PDF Format Lightning record page so the Templates tab appears, and add the Generate PDF button to the Billing and Master Billing page layouts. See Enhanced PDF Formats Configuration, Step 2: Update Page Layouts and the Lightning Record Page.
• Add batch generation (optional): add the Generate Billing PDFs button to the Billing list view if you'll generate Billing PDFs in bulk. You may remove the legacy Create Billing PDFs button. See Enhanced PDF Formats Configuration, Step 2: Update Page Layouts and the Lightning Record Page.
• Convert an existing Billing or Master Billing PDF Format: use Create Document Format on the record to create a Document-type version with existing merge tags already mapped. See Enhanced PDF Formats Configuration, Set Up Enhanced PDFs for Billings and Master Billings.
• Create a new Enhanced PDF Format for any other object (such as Cash Receipt): set Merge Type to Document, then design and upload your .docx template using the Enhanced PDF Formats Template Guide. See Enhanced PDF Formats Configuration, Set Up Enhanced PDFs for Any Object.

The Bank Reconciliation Generate PDF Report quick action also requires a page layout addition for existing orgs. See Bank Reconciliation: Quick Action Button Update below.

Bank Reconciliation: Quick Action Button Update

Required for organizations upgrading from a prior release who want to use the new Generate PDF Report option. New orgs receive this automatically in the packaged layout.

Before you begin: Earlier (legacy) versions of the export actions remain in your org after this update but are no longer needed. In the layout editor, the new and legacy actions may share similar labels. Check the API Name tooltip if you see duplicates.

Step 1: Navigate to the Bank Reconciliation Page Layout

1. Navigate to Setup > Object Manager > Bank Reconciliations.
2. Click Page Layouts in the left navigation menu, then select the layout used by your org (for example, Bank Reconciliation Layout).

Step 2: Verify or Add the Quick Actions

1. In the top palette, select Mobile & Lightning Actions.
2. Under Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions, confirm the following actions are present:
   • Generate PDF Report
   • Generate PDF Summary
   • Generate CSV File
3. If any of the above are missing, drag them down from the top palette.

Step 3: Remove Legacy Actions (Optional)

1. If any of the following legacy actions appear in the actions panel, drag them back up into the palette to remove them and avoid user confusion:
   • Create PDF Report
   • Create CSV File
   • Create Reconciliation PDF

Step 4: Save the Page Layout

1. Click Save.

Bank Direct Connect: Enable Field History Tracking on Bank Transactions

Required for organizations using Bank Direct Connect with a Plaid-connected bank.

As of Winter '27, Bank Direct Connect can update an existing Bank Transaction's fields (amount, date, and description) when Plaid reports a change, or mark it Removed, instead of creating a duplicate record. See Bank Direct Connect - All Bank Transactions for details on the new Provider Status field and this behavior. To see the before and after values when this happens, Field History Tracking must be enabled on the Bank Transaction object.

Step 1: Navigate to the Bank Transaction Object

1. Navigate to Setup > Object Manager > Bank Transaction.
2. Click Details in the left navigation menu.

Step 2: Enable Field History Tracking

1. Under Optional Features, confirm Allow Activities and Track Field History are checked. Track Field History requires Allow Activities to be enabled first.
2. Select both checkboxes if they aren't already, then click Save.

Without this, Bank Transactions that are updated or removed by Plaid won't show an audit trail of their prior values, and the troubleshooting guidance in Bank Direct Connect - All Bank Transactions won't be usable.

AP Automation: Enable Activities on Payment Method

Required for organizations using AP Automation (Repay) with ACH vendor onboarding who are upgrading from a prior release. New orgs receive this setting automatically.

As of Winter '27 Preview, successfully uploading a vendor's ACH details using the ACH Vendor Upload button logs an activity note, Submitted to Repay with a date/time timestamp, directly on the vendor's Payment Method record. For upgraded orgs, Allow Activities must be manually enabled on the Payment Method object to support activity record creation and avoid warning notifications during vendor uploads.

Step 1: Navigate to the Payment Method Object

1. Navigate to Setup > Object Manager > Payment Method.
2. Click Details in the left navigation menu.

Step 2: Enable Allow Activities

1. Click Edit.
2. Under Optional Features, select the Allow Activities checkbox.
3. Click Save.

Step 3: Add Activities / Activity History to Page Layout (Recommended)

1. In the left navigation menu of the Payment Method object, select Page Layouts, then choose the layout used by your org, such as Payment Method Layout.
2. In the top palette, select Related Lists.
3. Drag the Activity History or Activities related list onto the page layout.
4. Click Save.

Orders & Inventory: Exclude Non-Inventory Products from Pack

Optional. By default, the Pack screen's behavior is unchanged. Non-inventory products (such as labor, permits, or adjustment line items) continue to appear alongside inventory products, same as before this release.

If you'd rather hide non-inventory products from the Pack screen, enable the new Exclude Non-Inventory Products from Pack setting in Accounting Settings. This is off by default, so nothing changes unless you turn it on. Excluded lines remain on the Sales Order and continue to bill normally. They're just not offered for packing.
