Overview

Accounting Seed customers in the EMEA region and the United Kingdom can use Salt Edge to connect bank accounts directly to Bank Direct Connect (BDC) and import transactions automatically. Use this guide to complete the initial setup and begin importing transactions. In the Summer '26 release, support for non-regulated banks has been added.

Before You Begin

Before configuring Salt Edge in your org:

• You must have Salesforce System Administrator permissions. See Bank Direct Connect - Configuration for other prerequisites.
• To connect a non-regulated bank through Salt Edge or use the new + New Connection flow, install the Summer '26 Accounting Seed package in both your sandbox and production orgs. To connect a regulated bank, Spring '25 or later is required. See Summer '26 Release Notes for installation instructions.
• Best Practice: Test all configuration steps in a sandbox before deploying to production.

Step 1: Configure Production Settings

Add Salt Edge as a trusted URL in your Salesforce production org.

1. Navigate to Setup > Trusted URLs.

2. Click New Trusted URL.

3. Complete the following fields:

   • API Name: SaltEdge_API
   • URL: https://www.saltedge.com
   • Active: Selected
   • CSP Directives: Select connect-src

4. Click Save.

Step 2: Connect a Bank

Complete these steps for each bank account you want to connect. If your Bank Settings tab shows a Manage Providers button instead of + New Connection, see Connecting a Bank on an Earlier Release below.

1. In Accounting Seed, under Create Entries, select Bank Direct Connect.

2. On the Bank Settings tab, click + New Connection.
   
   

3. In the search field, type at least three characters of your financial institution's name.

4. Select your financial institution from the list of results.
    

Note: Salt Edge supports two connection types: regulated and unregulated. The system automatically routes your connection to the correct type based on your bank. You do not need to make a selection.

5. The Salt Edge connection widget opens, pre-loaded with your selected financial institution. Follow the on-screen prompts to authenticate with your bank.

6. When authentication is complete, close the connection tab to return to Bank Settings.

7. Your bank account now appears in the Financial Institution Accounts section.

8. In the Map Financial Institution Accounts to Bank GL Accounts section at the bottom of the Bank Settings tab, map your newly connected bank account to your Accounting Seed records:

   1. Locate the row for your bank account in the table.

   2. From the Ledger dropdown in that row, select the Accounting Seed Ledger that represents your company's books.

   3. From the Bank GL Account dropdown, select the GL account used to record this bank's transactions in Accounting Seed.

   4. Click Save at the top of the page.

Note: If you are unsure which Ledger or Bank GL Account to select, contact your Salesforce administrator.

Connecting a Bank on an Earlier Release

If your Bank Settings tab shows a Select Aggregation Provider drop-down and a Manage Providers button instead of + New Connection, your org is on a release before Summer '26. Use the steps below to connect Salt Edge.

First, register Salt Edge as a provider:

1. On the Bank Settings tab, click Manage Providers. The Manage Aggregation Providers dialog box displays.

2. Swipe right to enable the toggle next to Salt Edge.

3. Click Save, then click Yes to confirm.

Then connect your bank:

1. From the Select Aggregation Provider drop-down, select Salt Edge.

2. Click New. If the page refreshes to the Bank Transactions tab without letting you add a new bank, enable Popups and Redirects in your browser settings.

3. Enter your bank name in the search box and select your bank.

4. Enter your credentials and click Proceed.

5. Select the checkbox to allow updates with Accounting Seed, then click Confirm.

6. When the "Successfully connected" message displays, click Return to your application, or wait to be redirected automatically.

Once connected, continue with step 7 above to view and map your Financial Institution Account.

Reverse Sign

If your connected bank account balance displays as a negative number in Accounting Seed, use the Reverse Sign option to correct the display.

1. In the Financial Institution Accounts section of the Bank Settings tab, locate your bank account.

2. Click Edit next to the Financial Institution Account record.

3. Select the Reverse Sign checkbox.

4. Click Save.

Test Salt Edge in Your Sandbox

Sandbox testing for Salt Edge happens in Salt Edge's own test environment, separate from your Salesforce sandbox. To request sandbox access, create a case with Accounting Seed Support.

Before testing, add Salt Edge as a trusted URL in your Salesforce sandbox org:

   • URL: https://www.saltedge.com
   • Active: Selected
