Overview

After submitting your Merchant Account application, Sola will send you a welcome email when your account is approved. This article covers how to generate the xKey and iFieldsKey from your Sola Merchant Account, two keys required to activate your Sola payment integration in Accounting Seed.

The welcome email subject line is Welcome to Sola and includes a Generate Sola Keys section with steps to log into your Sola Merchant Account and generate two keys. The sample below shows how the welcome email appears.

Generate Sola Merchant Keys

The xKey and iFieldsKey must be generated separately.

1. In the Sola Merchant Portal, navigate to Settings > Gateway Settings > Key Management.
2. Click Create a Key (top right).
3. In the Create a Key window:
   1. Select API (Transaction Key) (not iFields).
   2. For Description, select Software.
   3. For Key Permissions, select Admin Role.
4. Click Create and View. The Key Created window displays the xKey.
5. Click the Copy icon, or copy and paste the key into a secure file location.

   Warning: Keys cannot be retrieved after this window closes. If a key is lost, you must generate a new one.

6. To generate the iFieldsKey, click Create a Key again, following the same process as steps 2 through 5.
7. In the Create a Key window:
   1. Select iFields (Token Key).
   2. For Description, enter Accounting Seed.
8. Click Create and View.
9. Click the Copy icon, or copy and paste the iFieldsKey into the same secure location as the xKey.

Enter Sola Merchant Keys

After the keys have been generated, follow these steps to enter the Sola Merchant Keys in Accounting Seed.

1. Navigate to Accounting Home > Setup.
2. Under Utilities, click Payment Processors.
3. Select a Sola Payment Processor. If you have multiple Payment Processors, select a list view other than Recently Viewed before selecting.
4. Click Merchant Account Info. The Enter Sola Merchant Keys dialog opens.
    
5. Enter the generated xKey and iFieldsKey values in the respective fields. Both values must be entered before saving.

   Important: The xKey and iFieldsKey can only be used for one Payment Processor. These values cannot be applied to any other Payment Processor.

6. Click Save. The Active checkbox on the Payment Processor is selected, confirming the Payment Processor is now live.

Review Sola Merchant Key Error Information

When the xKey and iFieldsKey are entered, Sola does not provide a way to test whether the keys are valid. Error messages only appear when an invalid key is used on the Manage Sola Payment Methods, Receive Payment/s, or Create Payment screens. Error messages include:

• Error: The provided iFieldsKey merchant key is invalid...
• Error: The provided xKey merchant key is invalid...

To resolve the error, re-enter the existing keys or generate and enter new ones. Refer to the Sola Key Management topic for additional guidance.
