Overview

The Accounting Seed application can be translated into French and French (Canadian) for users of these languages.

Note: You must be using the Spring ’25 or a later release of Accounting Seed to use this feature.

Follow these steps to set up French translations in an org:

• Step 1: Enable Supported Translation Languages 
• Step 2: Import Salesforce Translation File (STF) 
• Step 3: Setup Language for Users 
• Step 4: Setup Tab and List Translations
• Translation Files Download (.stf) - see the Language Packs section of the Product Install Links article.

Step 1: Enable Supported Translation Languages

1. Verify you are set up to receive emails on this org.
2. Navigate to Setup > Company Information.  
   If the Default Language is not English, set it to English. (Note prior value). 
   Recommended: Perform these steps after business hours, as all logged in users are affected by these changes until all steps are complete.
3. Navigate to Setup > Language Settings:
4. Select the Enable platform-only languages checkbox. 
   
5. Find French (Canadian)  or French in the Available Languages box below and add it to the list of Displayed Languages. 
   Note: French (Canadian) and French are two separate import files.
6. Click Save.
7. Type Translation Workbench in the Setup quick find box then select Translation Language Settings under Translation Workbench. 
   Note: If you see a Welcome to Translation Workbench message, click the Enable button.
8. Click Add.
9. Select French from the Language picklist.
10. Move users from the Available List to the Selected List.  
11. Click Save.
12. To add French Canadian, repeat the previous steps but this time select French (Canadian). 
    The Translation Language list now displays both supported languages: 
    

Step 2: Import Salesforce Translation File (STF)

1. Download and save the Salesforce Translation File (STF) file/s to a local folder so you can import the translations. 
2. Navigate to Setup > Translation Workbench > Import.
3. Click Choose File and select the .stf file saved in your local folder.  
4. Click Import.

You will receive an email message from Translation Import (this may take a few minutes).  

• If the message is Translation Import Complete, the import was successful and you can move to the next step.
• If the message is Translation Import Complete with Errors, download this spreadsheet (.xlsx) to correct the errors listed in the email text file attachment. 
  Note: Use Notepad to open the .txt file.
  When all errors have been corrected, repeat steps 2-4 in this section. You will receive an email message Translation Import Complete.

Step 3: Setup Language for Users

1. Navigate to Setup > Users.
2. Click Edit next to the user for whom you are setting the translation.
3. Under Locale Settings select French (Canadian) or Francais for French.
4. Navigate to Setup > Company Information and switch the Default Language back to the original value, as noted above. 

Step 4: Setup Tab and List Translations

Translating Tabs is a one-time manual process. This process may require small incremental updates with new releases.

1. Navigate to Setup> Tabs>Rename Labels.  
   
2. Download this spreadsheet (.xlsx) to translate tabs to French or French Canadian.. 

Note: Due to a Salesforce restriction, certain elements cannot be translated - for example text in a formula field like the Billing object’s Age.  

Recommended: Create another formula field that is shown on your page layouts with the translated text to be displayed for each of the English values.
