Error message: you must unpost a billing to unpost a billing ???!
I have a posted Invoice (positive Billing)
I have a posted Credit Memo (negative Billing) applied to Invoice
I want to make a small change to the Credit Memo - simply change the Accounting Period
I try unpost the Credit Memo and get this message:
Error:
You cannot update the Posting Status, Customer, Accounting Period, Credit Memo Applied Amount, Ledger, Currency Conversion Rate, or Closed Accounting Period fields on a Posted record. You must unpost the record to edit any of these fields.
That makes no sense - you cannot unpost this billing yet; to do that you must have had to unpost it already.
I tried a bunch of things to break it like unapplying and deleting all associated records but it appears this Credit Memo is locked up tight and the error message is giving me nothing to go off of

Hi Antonia,
It sounds like you may have some automation that is trying to update one of those values on either the posted Billing or the not-yet unposted Credit Memo. In an uncustomized org, you should be able to unpost the credit memo even without unapplying it.
You can log a ticket with AS support, but you might get faster information either from your admin or your Salesforce implementation partner. Advise them to review the entry criteria for any automation you have implemented in your system to make sure it allows you to adjust records as needed.
