Ability to add Lookup Filters to Manage Package Fields
There is an active flag on the GL Account that may be utilized in processes but does not work for restricting displayed values on other objects. It should work so that if a GL Account is not flagged as active it does not show up when adding a GL Account to any record (ie, Payable Lines, Billing Lines, Cash Receipts etc.) but it doesn't. The only way to enforce this behavior is to add a Lookup filter to the field but we cannot because this is blocked from editing as part of the managed package. The only thing I am able to do right now is write a validation rule that an inactive GL Account can't be chosen for the record to save. This does not remove it from the lookup search. We have had to put an 'X' at the end of the GL Account name to make it easy for Finance to know which are inactive accounts.

I agree also. There should definitely be more functionality built in around active/inactive GL accounts and GLAV. However, just to play devil’s advocate, With no way to “view all values” on optional filters in lightning, completely filtering out inactive options might create different problems.
