We sell Hardware, Software, Services and Support. Our services engagements can be multifaceted. We might have one long project, or a project with a lead in and some rev rev events followed by three smaller projects in succession repeating rev rec and billable events.
Does anyone have any best practices or practical experience they can share with me please?

A few technologies on Salesforce that can help you are:
1. Record Types - Record types on projects allow you to have a different user interface for different types of projects.
2. Process builder - Several steps like revenue recognition can be automated with the process builder.
