Reference Non-Salesforce Employees on Employee Lookups
For Expense Reports and Time Cards, it would be very useful to be able to reference employees that don't have Salesforce licenses.
I can think of several ways this could be implemented:
- Allow Contacts to be used as a reference Lookup in addition to Users. I think it would be easy enough to integrate this, similar to how it's an option on payables/disbursements.
- Allow Chatter Free Users to be selected in the Employee lookup. Currently, Salesforce does not let you do this with a standard lookup. This is a Salesforce-side issue that has already been discussed in the Success Community, but even if Chatter Free users can't be looked up in the standard UI, they can still be set in User lookup field via the API. So, the Visualforce pages could just allow you to select them from a dropdown or something.

Most customers I have worked with have elected not to use Accounting Seed's time sheets and expense reports for exactly this reason.
Requiring every employee who needs to log a time sheet (or have one logged for them) to have a full Salesforce / Accounting Seed license is impractical for most companies.
