    You can do this with a Custom Financial report.  You would include columns for each period within the quarter, and then have a total column that adds the columns for a particular quarter, and then set the visibility for the individual period columns to not visible using the "supress print" check box in the formatting section, if you don't want the monthly detail visible.  

    Here is the knowledge article on creating Columns for custom financial reports - it doesn't actually mention the supress print option (which maybe should be added to the documentation), but it does say how to create a calculated column :
