Prevent Opportunity from being sold if Product is not in Inventory

I am wondering how I can prevent the sales user from entering the quantity for a product greater than we have in available inventoryy.

  This is an unusual use case. Are you discontinuing the product? I could see this being a good safeguard against this use case?

  Hi Tony, no not discontinuing the product, but similar. The company only ever sells inventory in stock and they never take back orders. I am thinking possibly a Validation Rule in Salesforce that looks at the Opportunity Products object, as well as, the object/field that tracks Inventory for that Product. What do you think?
