Overview
For existing Accounting Seed users, there are some configuration changes that need to be made in order to utilize the enhancements that are available in the Winter ‘23 release.
There are also several optional configuration changes that can be performed by existing and/or new Accounting Seed users, such as add Import Templates picklist values, add additional picklist values to the Type and Source fields, and/or modify the in-app prompt settings.
Configuration Changes
- Add new Tax Settings Section to the Ledger Object
- Add new Calc Tax Button on the Opportunity Object
- Remove the Tax Method Field from the Tax Settings Object
- Add Import Templates Picklist Values
- Activate the new Lightning page
- Modify the In-app Prompt Settings
- Add the Source and Type Fields
- Add Additional Picklist Values to the Type and Source Fields
- Add the Clone w/Lines Button
Add new Tax Settings Section to the Ledger Object
Existing Accounting Seed users will need to add a new Tax Settings section to the page layout on the Ledger object, along with the related field names.
Best Practice: We recommend adding this new section directly below the Default Banking section.
- Click the Setup icon and select Object Manager.
- From the Quick Find textbox, enter Ledger. Then, select the Ledger object.
- Click Page Layouts and select the Ledger layout.
- Drag and drop the Section field after the Default Banking section.
- Enter Tax Settings in the New Section textbox.
- Click OK. The new section displays on the page layout.

Drag and drop the following fields into the new Tax Settings section:
- Tax Settings
- Sales Tax Company Code

If using AvaTax as your tax method, click the Wrench icon to display the Properties dialog box. Then, select the Required checkbox for the Sales Tax Company Code, and click OK.
Note: This field is only required if AvaTax is your tax method.
- Click Save. The new section will be available on the Ledger screen.
Add new Calc Tax Button on the Opportunity Object
Existing Accounting Seed users who use the Lightning UI will need to remove the “Old Calc Tax” button and add the new one to the Opportunity object.
Important: If you are using Classic, do NOT perform any of the steps in this section.
- Display an Opportunity.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- From the left navigation panel, click Page Layouts. Then, select the Opportunity layout.
- Click Buttons. Then, drag and drop the Old Calc Tax button from the Custom Buttons section to remove it from the page layout.
- Click Mobile & Lightning Actions.
- Drag and drop the Calc Tax button onto the page layout in the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section.
- Click Save.
Remove the Tax Method Field from the Tax Settings Object
Existing Accounting Seed users will need to uncheck the “Required” checkbox on the Tax Method field and then, remove it from the Tax Settings page layout.
Note: The “Tax Settings Method” field will be used instead of the “Tax Method” field on the Tax Settings object.
- Click the Setup icon and select Setup.
- Click Object Manager.
- From the Quick Find search textbox, enter Tax Settings. Then, select the Tax Settings link.
- Click Page Layouts and select the Tax Settings layout.

On the Tax Method field, click the Wrench icon to open the Field Properties dialog box.
- De-select the Required checkbox and click OK.
- Drag and drop the Tax Method field off of the page layout.
- Click Save.
Add Import Templates Picklist Values
The Winter '23 release will automatically include several Accounting Seed and Salesforce objects as picklist values to select for importing templates. However, you might want to include additional picklist values for other objects or custom objects. Use the steps below to add additional picklist values.
- Click the Setup icon and select Setup.
- From the Quick Find search textbox, enter Picklist and then, select Picklist Value Sets.
- Select Import Objects. The list of existing objects displays.
- Review the list to make sure that the object/value you want to add does not already exist.
- Click New.

Add the new value. Then, select the Add the new picklist values to all Record Types that use this Global Value Set checkbox.
Note: More than one object can be added at the same time. Press Enter after each object to add the next one. Additionally, for objects that have a master-detail relationship, both will need to be added. -
Click Save. The new object(s) is included as a Picklist Value(s).
Note: In addition to displaying here, the new value(s) will be available to select in the Import Templates tool. - Click Edit to edit the object(s) that was added. Then, enter the API Name for the object.
Note: To locate the API Name, click the Gear icon and select Setup. Then, click the Object Manager tab. Search for the appropriate object. The API Name for each object displays in the second column.
Activate the new Lightning page
Advanced Line Manager on Recurring Objects with Dynamic Actions
If you are an existing Accounting Seed user who is using your own Lightning Record Page for each Recurring object, in order to use the Advanced Line Manager on the three Recurring objects (Recurring Billing, Recurring Payable, and Recurring Journal Entry), a new Lightning page must be activated.
- Display a Recurring Billing.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- From the left navigation panel, select Lightning Record Pages.
- Click the Recurring Billing Record Home - Summer ‘22 hyperlink.
- Click View.
- Click Activation.
- Click Assign as Org Default. Then, leave Desktop as the default radio button.
- Click Next.
- Click Save.

With a Recurring Payable displayed and then, with a Recurring Journal Entry displayed, repeat these steps to activate the following two pages, respectively.

Modify the In-app Prompt Settings
The steps below to modify the in-app prompt settings can be performed by existing users, as well as new Accounting Seed users.

Click the Gear icon and select Setup.
- From the left navigation panel, in the Lookup icon search, enter In-app. Then, click the In-App Guidance hyperlink.

Click the Actions drop-down list that displays to the right of the line that you want to edit. Then, click Edit.
Note: To edit an existing active Guidance, it must have at least 1 view.

- In the upper-left portion of the screen, click the Gear icon to edit the settings.
Note: Click here to view the above image in full screen. - Click Next to access the Schedule settings.
- To include an End Date for the in-app prompt, click the Calendar icon and select an End Date. Additionally, if you want to adjust the Times to Show and/or Days in Between, enter the desired number in these fields.
Note: Click here to view the above image in full screen. - Click Next three times, and then click Done.
Note: The Profile, Permissions, and Details settings can also be modified, if necessary. - Click Save.
- Click Done.
- Close the browser window for the In-App Guidance.
Add the Source and Type Fields
New fields on Journal Entry and Recurring Journal Entry objects
With the Winter '23 release, two new fields (Source and Type) are available for the Journal Entry and Recurring Journal Entry objects. Use the steps below to add these two new fields onto the page layout.
- Display a Journal Entry.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- From the left navigation panel, click Page Layouts. Then, select the Journal Entry layout.
- From the Fields option, select Type. Then, drag and drop this field onto the page layout directly under the Recurring Journal Entry field.
- Select the Source field. Then, drag and drop it onto the page layout directly under the Type field.
- Click Save.
- With a Recurring Journal Entry displayed, repeat these steps to add the new Type and Source fields onto the Recurring Journal Entry page layout.
Add Additional Picklist Values to the Source and Type Fields
The steps below to add additional picklist values to the Type and Source fields can be performed by existing users, as well as new Accounting Seed users.
- Display a Journal Entry.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- Select Fields & Relationships.
- Click the Source hyperlink.
- Scroll down the page to the Values section. Click New to add a new Value(s).
- Enter the new Value(s) in the textbox.
- Click Save.
- Repeat these steps to add a new Value(s) to the Type field.
Add the Clone w/Lines Button
Clone w/Lines for Recurring Objects
In order to use the Clone with Lines enhancement on the Recurring Billing, Recurring Payable, and Recurring Journal Entry objects, the new button needs to be added onto the page layout.
- Display a Recurring Billing.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- From the left navigation panel, click Page Layouts. Then, select the Recurring Billing layout.
- Click Mobile & Lightning Actions.
- Drag and drop the Clone w/Lines button onto the page layout in the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section.
- Click Save.
- With a Recurring Payable displayed, and then with a Recurring Journal Entry displayed, repeat these steps to add the Clone w/Lines button onto the page layout.
