Overview
The Calculate/Estimate Tax wizard provides the ability to calculate and estimate sales taxes on an Opportunity. The wizard includes a Ledger field, which allows you to select a different Ledger that can include different Tax Settings information. Additionally, the wizard includes a Calculate Tax button to perform the calculation based upon one of the following two sales tax methods:
AvaTax Sales Tax - Avalara’s AvaTax integrates with the Opportunity and allows you to perform an automatic sales tax estimation inside of Accounting Seed. Accounting Seed uses an API (Application Programming Interface) callout to communicate with AvaTax and perform a sales tax estimation. Each time the Calc Tax button is clicked, the sales tax is estimated. Columns on the Calculate/Estimate Tax wizard will display on the data grid based upon Header Level Posting (HLP) or Line Level Posting (LLP) being enabled.
Note: Currently in Accounting Seed, the United States is the only valid supported country for tax calculation on Billings and Opportunities with Avalara AvaTax. If you are not in the US, Accounting Seed Native Tax can be used for tax calculation.
Accounting Seed Native Tax - Using the wizard to estimate tax on an Opportunity with Accounting Seed (AS) Native Tax is different depending upon whether Header Level Posting (HLP) or Line Level Posting (LLP) is enabled.
Note: In order to calculate taxes on an Opportunity, it must be associated with an Account and have at least one taxable Product that is associated with the Opportunity.
