Overview
1099 information can be updated on an Account or Contact using the Update 1099 Info button.
The following 1099 information can be updated on an individual Account or Contact:
- Enable 1099 Vendor checkbox
- Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
- Default Form 1099 Type
- Default Form 1099 Box
When selecting from the list view in batches, all of the above can be updated except the TIN because the identification number is unique for each Account or Contact.
Note: The ability to update 1099 information using this article is only applicable for the Lightning UI.
Do you want to:
- Update 1099 Information on a Single Account or Contact
- Update 1099 Information on Multiple Accounts or Contacts
Update 1099 Information on a single Account or Contact
- Navigate to Accounting Home and click the Setup tab. Then, under the Master menu, click Accounts.
- Select the Account/Contact for which you want to update 1099 information.
- Click Update 1099 Info.
Note: Regardless of access that is granted by profiles or permission sets, you must use the Update 1099 Info button to update the 1099 Vendor, Taxpayer Identification Number, and/or Default Form 1099 Box.
The Enter Default 1099 Information screen displays.

- Enable 1099 Vendor - the checkbox can be selected to include the Account/Contact as a 1099 Vendor or de-select if this Account/Contact should not be included as a 1099 Vendor.
- Taxpayer Identification Number - enter the TIN or if the TIN was entered incorrectly, it can be updated.
- Default Form 1099 Type - click the drop-down list to select the appropriate form type as one of the following:
- Eff 2021 - 1099-MISC - includes effective year 2021 and beyond for 1099-MISC form type
- Eff 2020 - 1099-NEC - includes effective year 2020 and beyond for 1099-NEC form type
- Eff 2001 - 1099-MISC - includes effective year 2001 to 2019 for 1099-MISC form type
- Default Form 1099 Box - click the drop-down list to select the appropriate form box. Selections in the Default Form 1099 Box display based upon the Default Form 1099 Type that was selected.
Note: If a Default Form 1099 Type was selected, the Default Form 1099 Box cannot be set to None.

- Click Save. The Account/Contact screen refreshes.
- (optional) Review the changes in the 1099 Information section of the screen.
