Important: This article is only applicable for estimating tax on an Opportunity if you are currently on a release prior to Summer ‘22 R3 (3.124). If you have the Summer ‘22 R3 (3.124) release (or higher) installed, use the Calculate/Estimate Tax on an Opportunity article.
Avalara’s AvaTax integrates to the Opportunity and allows you to perform an automatic sales tax estimation inside of Accounting Seed. Accounting Seed uses an API (Application Programming Interface) callout to communicate with AvaTax and perform a sales tax estimation. Each time the Calc Tax button or Create Billing button is clicked this sales tax is estimated.
The Opportunity record should be set up to include the Calc Tax button. If you have questions about adding this button to the Opportunity page layout, refer to the Edit Page Layouts Manually article.
Note: Currently in Accounting Seed, the United States is the only valid supported country for tax calculation on Billings and Opportunities with Avalara AvaTax. If you are not in the US, Accounting Seed Native Tax can be used for tax calculation.
