Overview
The Winter ‘24 release includes configuration changes that can be performed by existing and/or new Accounting Seed users.
Configuration Changes
- Add the Auto-Reverse JE section and fields
- Add the Depreciate Asset button
- Add the Enable Pre-Tax Discount Calculation
- Add Delete CD & APDs and Delete APDs buttons
- Add the Receive Payments button
- Rename the 1099 Information Section
Add the Auto-Reverse JE section and fields
Existing Accounting Seed users who want to use Auto-Reverse Journal Entries will need to add a new section onto the page layout for the Journal Entry object. Additionally, you will need to add a new field onto the page layout for the Recurring Journal Entry object.
- Display a Journal Entry record.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- From the left navigation panel, click Page Layouts. Then, select the Journal Entry Layout.
- Drag and drop the Section field onto the page layout directly under the Information section.
- Enter Auto-Reverse in the Section Name field. Then, click OK.
- Drag and drop the following three fields into the new Auto-Reverse section:
- Auto-Reverse
- Auto-Reversal JE
- Reverse in this Accounting Period.
- Click Save.
- Click the Object Manager hyperlink.
- In the Quick Find textbox, enter Recurring Journal Entry. Then, select the Recurring Journal Entry object.
- Select the Recurring Journal Entry Layout.
- Drag and drop the Auto-Reverse field onto the page layout directly under the Source field.
- Click Save.
Add the Depreciate Asset button
Existing Accounting Seed users who use Salesforce Lightning and want to depreciate Fixed Assets will need to remove the “Depreciate Asset (Classic)” button from the Fixed Asset page layout and add the “Depreciate Asset” button.
- Display a Fixed Asset record.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- From the left navigation panel, click Page Layouts. Then, select the Fixed Asset Layout.
- Click Mobile & Lightning Actions.
- Drag and drop the Depreciate Asset (Classic) button from the page layout.
Note: These steps are only for Salesforce Lightning users. If you use Salesforce Classic, do NOT remove this button. It will be needed to depreciate an asset from the Fixed Asset page. - Drag and drop the Depreciate Asset button into the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section.
- Click Save.
Add the Enable Pre-Tax Discount Calculation
Existing Accounting Seed users who want to allow discounts on Billings to be calculated based upon subtotal amounts (pre-tax) will need to add the “Enable Pre-Tax Discount Calculation” field to the Ledger object.
- Click the Setup icon and select Object Manager.
- From the Quick Find textbox, enter Ledger. Then, select the Ledger object.
- Click Page Layouts and select the Ledger layout.
- Drag and drop the Section field directly below the last section. The Section Properties dialog box displays.
- Enter Other in the New Section textbox.
- Click OK. The new section displays on the page layout.
- Drag and drop the Enable Pre-Tax Discount Calculation field into the new section.
- Click Save. The new section will be available on the Ledger screen.
- To enable this new field, display a Ledger, click to select the Enable Pre-Tax Discount Calculation checkbox. Then, click Save.
Add Delete CD & APDs and Delete APDs buttons
Existing Accounting Seed users who want to be able to delete a Cash Disbursement and/or associated AP Disbursement records with the click of a button will need to add two new buttons onto the Cash Disbursement page layout.
- Display a Cash Disbursement record.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- Click Page Layouts and select the Cash Disbursement layout.
- Click Mobile & Lightning Actions.
- Drag and drop Delete APDs into the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section.
- Repeat step 5 to drag and drop Delete CD & APDs onto the page layout in the same section.
- Click Save.
Note: The Delete CD & APDs and Delete APDs buttons will dynamically display on a Cash Disbursement record based upon whether the Source is Manual or Payable.
Add the Receive Payments button
Existing Accounting Seed users will need to remove the Receive Payments (Classic) button and add the Receive Payments button to the Billings list view.
- Access the Billings list view.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- Select the List View Button Layout.
- From the Available Buttons, select Receive Payments. Then, click the Add arrow to add it to the Selected Buttons.
- From the Selected Buttons, select Receive Payments (Classic). Then, click the Remove arrow to move this to the Available Buttons.
- Click Save.
- From the left panel, select Search Layouts.
- On the Default Layout profile, click the Actions drop-down list, and then select Edit.
- From the Custom Buttons section, under the Available Buttons, select Receive Payments. Then, click the Add arrow to add it to the Selected Buttons.
- From the Selected Buttons, select Receive Payments (Classic). Then, click the Remove arrow to move this to the Available Buttons.
- Click Save.
- Refresh the Billings list view. Receive Payments should be a button option.
Rename the 1099 Information Section
Existing Accounting Seed users can use the steps below to rename the 1099 Information section on the Contact object.
- Display a Contact.
- Click the Gear icon and select Edit Object.
- From the left navigation panel, click Page Layouts. Then, select the Contact (Accounting) Layout.
- Scroll to the 1099 Information section. Then, on the far right, click the Wrench icon to open the Section Properties.
- Change the Section Name to Accounting & 1099 Information.
- Click OK. The new Section Name displays on the page layout.
Note: If the 1099 Vendor field currently display on the top right of this newly renamed section, drag it to the top left (above the Taxpayer Identification Number field). Additionally. if you added the Payable Days Due field from the previous release in the Contact Information section, you should drag and drop that field into the top right area of the newly renamed Accounting & 1099 Information section. If you did not add this field from the previous release, but want to include it, drag and drop it from the Fields at the top of the page layout into the new Accounting & 1099 Information section.
