Overview
If a refund was issued in error using the Issue a Refund from a Credit Memo article, the entire process can be reversed using the steps below.
Issue a Refund from a Credit Memo
- Navigate to Accounting Home and click the Create Entries tab. Then, under the Revenues menu, click Billings.
- Select a list view (other than the Recently Viewed list view).
- Choose the Credit Memo for which a refund was issued and should now be reversed.
- Click the Applied To tab.
- Display the Refund Cash Receipt record.
Note: Click here to view the above image in full screen. - Click the Applied To tab on the Refund Cash Receipt record.
- Delete the Billing Cash Receipt record.
Note: Click here to view the above image in full screen. - Click the Details tab on the Refund Cash Receipt record. Then, unpost the record.
- To complete the reversal process, delete the unposted Refund Cash Receipt record.
- Display the Credit Memo for which the refund was initially issued.
Note: The Balance on the Credit Memo should display to include the amount that was in the Refund Cash Receipt.
